MISSION, VISION, AND CORE VALUES

Mission: The Compton Arts Project ("CAP") centers on arts and culture to build community and energize the tourism economy within the City of Compton and the surrounding ecosystem.

We are an artist-led, community-driven, and data-informed initiative powered by the Sēpia Artist Collective and fiscally sponsored by Cakecutter Institute.

CAP works in partnership with community stakeholders to achieve mutually identified goals and objectives that align with our mission, vision, and core values.

Vision: The Compton Arts Project is dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive arts and culture scene in Compton, where creativity flourishes, residents thrive, and the local economy prospers. We envision a community where the arts are accessible, cultural heritage is celebrated, and Compton becomes a destination for artistic inspiration and economic growth in the region.

Core Values:

  1. Inclusivity: We believe in the power of art to unite diverse voices, backgrounds, and experiences. The Compton Arts Project will actively seek to engage all community members, ensuring everyone can participate in and benefit from the arts.

  2. Cultural Celebration: We honor and respect the rich cultural heritage of Compton and its residents. Our programs will celebrate the traditions, stories, and art forms that make Compton unique while embracing the City's creative evolution.

  3. Economic Empowerment: We are committed to driving economic development in Compton through the arts. By supporting local artists and businesses, fostering creative entrepreneurship, and attracting cultural tourism, we aim to energize the local economy.

  4. Collaboration: The Compton Arts Project will foster collaboration among artists, community organizations, schools, and local government. Working together amplifies our impact and creates a stronger, more resilient, creative community.

  5.  Innovation: We will constantly seek innovative ways to engage with the arts, exploring new technologies, supporting emerging art forms, and experimenting with unconventional approaches to artistic expression.
